February 28, 2003 - The Salads and Get Loose

Three days after my last release a new band briefly joins my library when The Salads released their second album "Fold A To B" on February 28, 2003. But who are The Salads? They are a five-piece punk rock band from Newmarket, Ontario consisting of drummer Grant Taylor, guitarist Dave Ziemba, bassist Chuck Dailey, lead singer Mista D and Libydo, whose only credits are officially backing vocals and dancer! That's a new one for me! I'm not a big Salads fan by any means, but they had one song that became a big radio hit, the undeniably catchy single "Get Loose". It's got some catchy rock guitars, but it's Mista D's super fast singing that is the highlight of the song as he raps so fast that he can be hard to understand! The chorus is loud and pretty damn catchy and it rolls perfectly into the next round. After the next round Ziemba plays a  new slower riff while Taylor plays some solid drums in the background, then it's back to the catchy chorus to finish off this pretty short single. It's not gonna win any awards, or make me want to listen to anything else by them, but this is an undeniably catchy tune that I think is a worthy addition to the library.
