February 25, 2003 - Switchfoot and Meant To Live

Almost two months after my last release a new band joins my library when Switchfoot released their fourth album "The Beautiful Letdown" on February 25, 2003. But who is Switchfoot? They are a four-piece Christian rock band from San Diego, California consisting of frontman Jon Foreman (lead vocals, guitar), his brother Tim Foreman (bass), Chad Butler (drums) and Jerome Fontamillas (keyboards, guitar). I'm not a a big Switchfoot fan, but I do have one song off this album, the very popular single "Meant To Live". It's led by a pretty catchy stop-and-start guitar riff and Foreman has a pretty solid and powerful sounding voice. Things are very smooth and pop-y but also solidly hard rock and it's no wonder this song became so popular! After a couple pretty solid rounds there's an epic acoustic part and it leads very smoothly back into the catchy chorus. It's definitely a worthy addition to the library!
