April 25, 2000 - Papa Roach and Last Resort

A week after my last release a new band briefly joins my library when Papa Roach released their second album "Infest" on April 25, 2000. But who are Papa Roach? They are a four-piece nu-metal band from Vacaville, California consisting of Dave Buckner (drums, percussion), Tobin Esperance (bass), Jerry Horton (guitars) and Jacoby Shaddix (lead vocals). I'm not a big fan of Papa Roach at all (they're one of MANY nu-metal bands emerging around this time) but I do have one song by them, their biggest and most succesful single "Last Resort". Shaddix opens with the unmistakable "cut my life into pieces, this is my last resort" and he sounds decent on this song even though he's  not my favourite singer. Horton plays a pretty cool lead guitar riff while Shaddix sings the verse overtop and the chorus is a little repetitive but also fairly catchy. The whole song is pretty repetitive which holds it back a bit, but Shaddix does have some nice screams at the end of the song. This one is more nostalgic than good, but it's a worthy addition still.
