October 14, 1998 - DJ Tiësto and Ayla

Three weeks after my last release a new artist joins my library when Tiësto released his third album "Magik Three: Far From Earth" on October 14, 1998. But who is Tiesto? He's a Dutch DJ and producer from Breda, Netherlands and he's known to be the godfather of EDM (electronic dance music). EDM is not normally my style at all, but I have one song off this album, a pretty trippy song called "Ayla". It's driven by some repetitive but interesting synths that sound cool, but then in comes the electronic drum kit which I'm not a big fan of. Tiesto adds some other noises that add to the trippiness and things shift to a new direction after about 1:40 with a new "riff" (just more keyboard noises) that is pretty space-y and pretty trippy. Things start to slowly build up and he does a great job of building the tension up before there's a nice release into a new dance beat that even I wanna get up and move to! This cool part takes us almost to the end of the song, but a new drum beat starts up towards the end as things lead into the next track that I don't have. An interesting song I thought!
