November 1, 1994 - Wildflowers and You Don't Know How It Feels

Three weeks after my last release and five years since the hit "Full Moon Fever", Tom Petty released his second solo album "Wildflowers" on November 1, 1994 and I have only one song off this album, the hit single "You Don't Know How It Feels". Petty plays guitar, vocals, bass and harmonica on this undeniably catchy song and Steve Ferrone plays a loud drum beat to keep the pace while Petty plays some decent harmonica and sings in his usual solid voice. The verse rolls right into the catchy chorus, which Petty opens with "but let me get to the point, let's roll another joint" in what would become an instant stoner classic and it's quite a smooth chorus. Benmont Tench adds some cool piano to the next verse and after another catchy chorus Mike Campbell plays a short and simple little guitar solo. Onward to a final verse and chorus before Campbell plays one last short solo and they calmly finish off this instant radio hit. It's a cool song for sure and it's also the last we'll hear from Tom Petty in my library. "Full Moon Fever" was full of cool songs, but it's my only full album of Petty's and this is the end of my single songs by him. A fine way to go out!
