November 2, 1993 - Sacred Fire: Live In South America and No One To Depend On

Two weeks after my last release and a very long 16 years since we last heard them in my library, Santana briefly returns with the live album "Sacred Fire: Live In South America", released on November 2, 1993. I don't usually do live stuff and I only have one song off this album, but this version of "No One To Depend On" (which is off "Santana III") is much faster than the original and is pretty cool. Chester Thompson plays the cool keyboards in the background while Carlos leads the way with some epic guitar. When the drums come in, they start to play the song at a way faster pace than the slow original and the guitar sounds pretty good. We hear lots of people shouting out the lyrics in the verse and the keyboards keep the pace while Carlos goes off on some pretty sweet guitar breaks. After a couple verses we hit solo time and Carlos and Chester take turns in this extended solo. Of course, Santana's guitar is pretty awesome and way way faster than the original but the keyboard solos sound pretty sweet as well. The crowd roars as they exit the solo and segue nicely back into the main riff and they finish things off with one final verse. This was a pretty cool take on a normally slow song and one live song I'm happy to have.
