June 20, 1978 - Double Vision and Hot Blooded
Nearly two months since my last release, and a year after their self-titled debut, Foreigner released their second album "Double Vision" on June 20, 1978, of which I have only the first song, the hit single "Hot Blooded". Although they are not my favourites, once again these guys managed to make a hit song that is extremely catchy! This one starts right into the chorus which is led by a cool, slow guitar riff by Mick Jones. Lou Gramm sings in a very high voice indeed, but it's quite catchy and you can't help but sing along by the end. They move into the first verse which is a little fast-paced but still led by some cool Jones guitar. Gramm continues to sing pretty well and they play a decent bridge as well that connects back to the chorus. The next verse has some nice guitar and after another chorus it's time for a Jones guitar solo. It's not terribly flashy, but it fits the mood really well and they tie right back in for another bridge. They jam out the chorus several times until the song slowly fades to an end. Not a spectacular song, but certainly a good one as these guys hit all the right notes in this cool jam. More hit singles coming up!
