May 21, 1976 - Agents Of Fortune and (Don't Fear) The Reaper

It's been a long 4 years since their last song that I have, but Blue Oyster Cult wrote their biggest hit yet "(Don't Fear) The Reaper", the only song I have off their fourth album "Agents Of Fortune" released May 21, 1976. BOC still has the same original line-up on this album and "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" would go on to be their best-selling single. Lead guitarist Donald Roeser sings lead vocals on this very cool song. Roeser kicks it off with the catchy guitar riff that will carry most of the song as Albert Bouchard keeps the beat with a light cow bell. His singing is very soft and sounds pretty good as they quickly move into the chorus. It has lots of overlaying vocals and it sounds pretty cool as we hear some sweet guitar that gears us up for another verse. After another chorus we hear a wonderful little guitar bit that segues into a full-blown solo! Roeser and Eric Bloom are both playing some pretty cool guitar in this solo section, then it's time for another verse and chorus. We hear some more cool guitar at the end as these guys jam out and this song fades to a close. It's a pretty cool song with Roeser playing some great guitar. That's it for this month though, until next time!
