September 9, 1971 - John Lennon and Imagine

On Septmeber 9, 1971, John Lennon released his second solo album titled "Imagine". I do not delve deeply into the solo careers of the Beatles, and the only song in my library by John Lennon is the title track off this album. A beautiful piano ballad, Lennon sings some simple, but very powerful lyrics about the possibility of all humans living together in peace. He plays a very catchy piano riff that carries the song that fits the peaceful mood of the lyrics and there is also a string section. Lennon empowers us to imagine a world with no heaven or hell, "and no religion too". No countries, no borders, no reason for war: just one people living in peace. No material possessions or worth to separate us, "a brotherhood of man". It certainly is a wonderful song, one that's message still sadly goes unheard by most.
