Jamuary 16, 1972 - Blue Oyster Cult and Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll

Happy New Year! My first release of the year came out on January 16, 1972, the  eponymous debut album by American rock band Blue Oyster Cult. I only have one song off this album, but as I usually say with these one-offs, it's a pretty good one. But who are Blue Oyster Cult? They are a 5-piece rock band from Stony Brook, New York consisting of guitarists/keyboardist Eric Bloom and Allen Lanier, lead guitarist Donald Roeser, bassist Joe Bouchard and drummer Albert Bouchard. It's Albert who sings lead vocals on the track I have "Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll". I like his singing but it's Roeser's catchy guitar playing that makes the song. It has some cool organ and drumming as well, but the two guitar solos are both really good and this is definitely a cool rock and roll song. A fun way to kick off the new year!
