July 10, 1964 - The Beatles and A Hard Day's Night

The earliest release in my library is the song "A Hard Day's Night" by the Beatles. Before I listen to any music by a new artist (new in this case being new to the timeline) I like to learn a bit about the band. So who are the Beatles? Well, considering they are probably the most influential band of all time, I'm assuming most people need no introduction to the Beatles. However, it is 2020 now and there are some young people who genuinely may not know, so we shall proceed. The Beatles are a four-piece rock/pop band that formed in Liverpool, England in 1960. They released their first studio album in 1963 with members John Lennon (keyboards, guitars), Paul McCartney (bass, guitars, keyboards), George Harrison (guitars), and Ringo Starr (drums, percussion). Additionally, every member performs vocals. While Lennon and McCartney perform the lion's share of the vocals, Harrison and Starr also sing lead on several songs, and backing vocals on a lot of others. They released albums very quickly back in the 60's so the album "A Hard Day's Night", released on July 10, 1964, was their third album. I have only the title track off this album, with lead vocals by Lennon. The title track is also the name of The Beatles' first film. This song is about working hard all day, but at least coming home to a wonderful woman. It's a fun song with a cool riff and even some cowbell! It's a quick two and a half minutes, but definitely a solid tune. With just the title track off this album, that wraps up 1964! 1965 will contain my first full album, see ya next year! :p
