December 3, 1965 - Day Tripper

That's right, on the exact same day the Beatles released "Rubber Soul", they also released a double-A side single, "Day Tripper/We Can Work It Out". Both these songs were recorded during the "Rubber Soul" sessions, but were chosen not be on the album and instead released on the same day as the single. I only have the song "Day Tripper", which is credited to the Lennon-McCartney partnership with lead vocals by both John and Paul. The song is driven by a catchy guitar riff played by George Harrison, and harmonized vocals. The lyrics seem to be about a girl who is a bit of a tease, and despite their efforts, she never stays around for long, like a day tripper on vacation. "Day Tripper" would end up being very successful, and along with "Rubber Soul" the Beatles had a very profitable Christmas season in 1965.

Favourite song of 1965: I'm gonna have to go with "I'm Looking Through You" as my favourite song of the year.  The fast guitar riff driving the song is the main reason I think it's the best song off "Rubber Soul".
Well that concludes 1965, but I'm sure it won't be long before the Beatles release some new music!
